Tafe Events – React Application

Project Overview

To support an international distributors’ meet in South India, TAFE required a single digital touch‑point that would:

  • present the full event itinerary in an accessible format
  • push timely reminders and updates to participants
  • introduce delegates to local customs, dress norms, and points of interest

KRDS delivered a React Native mobile application, packaged for iOS, Android, and the web (Progressive Web App).

Core Objectives

Objective Approach
Consolidate event information Home screen cards for General Instructions, Important Points, Photo Gallery, and Podcast
Keep attendees on schedule Push and browser notifications triggered by programme changes
Provide cultural context Dedicated modules for dress code guidance, location facts, and local etiquette
Maintain brand consistency Interface mirrors TAFE’s colour palette, iconography, and typography

Key Features

  • Dynamic Itinerary – timeline view with icons for meals, travel, and activities
  • Real‑time Alerts – browser‑enabled push notifications plus native FCM/APNS delivery
  • Multimedia Library – in‑app image galleries and audio podcasts
  • Offline Access – essential content cached locally for low‑connectivity moments
  • CMS Integration – organizers update text and media through a headless CMS; changes reflect in seconds

Technical Stack

  • React Native (TypeScript) for a unified code‑base
  • Expo EAS for over‑the‑air updates
  • Service Workers to enable PWA functionality and web‑push
  • Firebase for authentication, data sync, and notifications
  • Headless CMS (e.g., Strapi) for content management

Implementation Highlights

Timeline Component
Built with SVG for crisp scaling and smooth scrolling.

Notification Workflow
CMS publish → Cloud Function → Push / Web‑push → User tap opens relevant screen.

Brand Layer
Persistent orange header, minimal icon set, and subtle footer pattern referencing South Indian “kolam” motifs.

Value Delivered (Qualitative)

  • Delegates received all essential information on one device, reducing reliance on printed material.
  • Organizers could amend schedules without issuing revised hand‑outs.
  • Cultural primers and dress‑code visuals helped guests feel comfortable and prepared.

The project illustrates how a lightweight React Native build can transform event logistics into a user‑friendly, on‑brand digital experience—ready to be reused for future TAFE gatherings with minimal re‑configuration.
